Chelmsford College Secures Funding to Expand Construction Facilities
Chelmsford College has been awarded almost £2 million in funding from the Department for Education's recent capital fund to expand its construction skills training provision.
The investment will support the expansion of the College's brickwork and trades workshop facilities, helping to increase capacity for construction training. The new facilities are planned to open in September 2027.
The project will be delivered alongside Chelmsford City Council, LandQ and Ptarmigan. Together, the companies will work to support the development of construction skills needed for the Chelmsford Garden Community project and help build a pipeline of skilled workers across Essex.
The expansion also supports Chelmsford College's role as a partner in the Construction Technical Excellence College (CTEC) East of England, which aims to strengthen construction training and skills development across the region.

The investment represents a significant step in increasing opportunities for future learners seeking careers in the construction industry, while helping to meet the growing demand for skilled workers across Essex.
