INSPIRE (SEND Support)
Helping you to success at college and beyond
The college is committed to helping young people with SEND to increase their independence and develop strategies to achieve success, enjoy college and prepare for adult life.
If you are thinking of applying to college and have SEND, please let us know as early as possible so we can discuss your needs with you and help you plan a great start to your course. The best way to start this process is by completing and submitting this form.
We will then:
- create a support profile for you and share this with your teachers so they can plan and adapt the learning around your individual needs. Your teachers will discuss the best way to do this with you when you start your course. The SEND Support Team may contact you to arrange a further discussion before you enrol if your needs are more complex.
Learners with Education Health & Care Plans
If you have a current EHCP It is essential that you get in touch with the college as early as possible so adjustments can be agreed and consultation with the local authority to agree to meet a young person’s needs can be completed in plenty of time. We strongly suggest that if you are considering Chelmsford College, you apply in the Autumn term. We also recommend that you request your school carries out your annual review in plenty of time for your EHCP to be updated as part of the phased transition to post 16 education and before the March 31st deadline for consultations with colleges.
Access Arrangements and support in examinations
It not necessary to provide us with information about previous exam arrangements before you start. All learners will be given the opportunity to request an assessment for special arrangements at enrolment. Please note you may be required to produce evidence to support your application.
