Mark your calendars for the Green Skills Fair on November 4th, 2024
Green careers are a fast-growing global employment sector that touches every company, employer, employee, and educational establishment. Chelmsford College has a vision to be one of the leading colleges in sustainable practice and is aiming to develop ways to reduce emissions, with a view to being net zero by 2040.
National Green Skills Week 2024 is an exciting week for our learners to begin this global challenge. We want to inspire and develop a workforce locally and nationally to ensure we have the necessary skills for a green economy.
In collaboration with Essex County Council and the Careers Enterprise Company, Chelmsford College is kicking off National Green Skills Week on November 4th with the first Essex Green Skill Fair. We invite national and local companies and speakers to attend a stall, run a workshop, or support the college's mission to net zero.
Our learners and those of our local schools, colleges and universities will be invited to attend.
We sincerely hope you can support this inspirational event and help us grow the GREEN workforce of the future.

At Chelmsford College we are passionate about the climate and sustainability and are hosting a Green Skills Fair on the 4th of November to promote greener living and the skills needed for a more sustainable economy.
There will be workshops for you to attend and an exhibition, and you will be timetabled to come across with your tutor to the sports hall during the morning.

Adult Community Learning (ACL) |
The largest provider of adult education’ in Essex. They are passionate about aiding the flourishment of learners to make a positive impact on residents and communities in Essex. Balfour Beatty & Lower Thames Crossing |
We’re the UK’s largest construction and infrastructure provider. Given a £1.2 billion contract by National Highways to implement the Lower Thames Crossing works, which will serve to ease road congestion. This includes a Thames crossing, 10 miles of highways and 49 structures such as viaducts and bridges. Balfour Beatty will set up an ‘Operator Skills Hub’ for this project by spending £500 million with supply chain partners and local business. At Care UK, we care for older people in warm, friendly and comfortable care homes across England, Wales and Scotland. They employ a workforce of over 10,500 across 150 care homes and provide services including nursing, respite and end of life care. Chelmsford City Council Chelmsford City Council Parks and Green Spaces |
Your local council offering a vast range of council services as well as promoting 'Green Living'. Notably ‘Love Your Chelmsford’ which has a focus on making the community greener with initiatives such as the Tree Giveaway Scheme. They also offer guidance on alternatives to driving such as the Cycling Charter and the E-Scooter Trial. You can get involved with plenty of volunteering opportunities at the Council, come along and speak to the team for all this and more. |
Colchester Institute |
A multi campus educational provider for school leavers and adults as well as the University Centre. Many courses have a green skills focus, including those such as environmental noise management and a BSc (Hons) Construction Management with different pathway choices available. Essex County Council - Climate Action Committee |
An independent group advising the council on how to fight climate change. The commission derived a roadmap to get Essex to net zero by 2050, by planning to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It plans on building resilience to the impact of floods, overheating and water shortages on the climate. They will also monitor and lead on implementing the recommendations throughout Essex. Galloper Wind Farms |
Each year Galloper Offshore Wind Farm’s 56 turbines will generate enough green electricity to power the equivalent of more than 444,000 British homes. A 60-strong team operates and maintains the wind farm from a state-of-the-art, purpose-built Operations & Maintenance facility in Harwich International Port.
