Chelmsford College Welcomes Learners for the 2026/27 Academic Year

Induction officially started on the 8th September for Chelmsford College learners. After a sunny summer break, the College staff were excited to welcome this year’s cohort.

The learners gathered in the newly refurbished Sports Hall for a welcome introduction from David Warnes, Principal and CEO of the College. The Campus Directors’ and academic teams then introduced themselves and set the tone for the year. After receiving a warm welcome from staff members, the learners were free to roam around an exciting College Services Fair, designed to help them discover the wide range of support available throughout their time at Chelmsford College.

The Fair brought together teams from across the College, including Careers Advice, SEND Support, Wellbeing, the Learning Resource Centre, Bursary, Study Centre and Safeguarding. Staff were on hand to answer questions, offer advice and help learners feel confident as they start the year.

Learners also had the chance to hear more about the opportunities available outside of their studies. Teams such as Enrichment, ChangeMakers and Marketing, to name a few, showcased ways to get involved in College life, whether that's representing learner voice, filming content for social media channels or running for Student Governor.

There was plenty of excitement around the Fair, with learners taking part in a £10 Amazon voucher competition by posing with a Chelmsford College selfie frame and sharing their photos on social media. Sweets, fidgets, stress balls and lots of useful resources were equally popular as learners explored the stalls and met the various staff members.

Commenting on the success of induction week, David Warnes said "It’s been great to welcome learners starting their journey at Chelmsford College. It’s nice to have the buzz back in the corridors and classrooms after a long hot summer. Thank you to Rebecca Leech and the whole team for making their first days such a success."

As the week nears an end, the Chelmsford College team would like to extend another warm welcome to all new and returning learners and wish them a successful year ahead. The team are looking forward to supporting them as they unlock their potential and make the most of the opportunities available to them.
