The Football Academy originally formed in 2011 and it has aided many enthusiastic football players with different levels of ability improve their skills and overall game.
"The Coaches helped me develop massively as a player – mentally, technically and physically. They gave me a professional mindset on and off the field and that has really helped me achieve success out here in the States. The Academy’s success in developing players for senior football is clear to see as half the team I played with are now playing a high level of first team football for various clubs."
Players are selected through a series of football sessions and will have a choice of studying the following qualifications alongside your training and matches:
Boys' qualifications
- Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery (If Maths and English Achieved)
- Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations (If Maths and English Achieved)
- NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Sport (Sport, Exercise and Fitness)
- NCFE Level 3 Sport and Physical Activity (Sport & Exercise Science)
- Level 3 in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship
Boys’ college courses are tailored so you can attend football training on Monday: 9.30am, Tuesday: 1.15pm and 2.15pm, Friday: 9.30am, and play matches on Wednesday: 2pm KO (transportation is provided to and from training sessions and matches, but players can also make their own way).
Please note that players enrolled on either a carpentry or electrical course will only be able to access one training session a week.
Girls’ qualifications

Girls’ college courses are tailored so you can attend football training on Monday: 4.30pm, Friday: 4.30am, and play matches on Wednesday: 1.30pm KO (transportation is provided to training, to and from matches, but players can also make their own way).
Those players (boys and girls) who really excel may have the opportunity to progress onto senior football at a semi-professional level or with professional clubs who we have excellent relationships with.
The Football Academy also has many contacts that can help you gain a soccer scholarship in the USA after completing your course, and they’ll provide professional support and have a wealth of knowledge to access to a wide network of universities.
Apprenticeships: Once you have successfully completed your studies over one or two years, there are opportunities to progress into one of our 16 apprenticeship programmes. For further information, please contact David Cornwell at Chelmsford College.
