Celebrating Culture at Chelmsford College
Chelmsford College proudly hosted an internal Cultural Celebration Week from the 2nd-6th June 2025, as part of an ongoing commitment to honour and embrace the diversity within its community. The week-long event brought together staff and learners to celebrate global cultures, with a peak on Thursday 5th June when a lively cultural exhibition was held in the learners’ Common Room.
In preparation for the exhibition, the College’s dedicated catering team, led by Keir and Cheryl, worked alongside a group of enthusiastic catering students for a day of food preparation. They created a variety of delicious dishes, offering everyone a taste of the world. Also, helping out on the day was Student Governor Daniel Holland, who enjoyed getting hands-on with the cooking. The menu featured Greek spinach and feta filo parcels, homemade cheese pizza with fresh tomato sauce, and crispy onion bhajis; each dish representing a different part of the globe.
On the day of the exhibition, learners and staff were invited to wear traditional clothing or the colours of their national flags, adding to the atmosphere. The College’s refectory team helped serve the food, which was enjoyed by staff and learners alike.
The exhibition itself included mannequins dressed in traditional attire, flag displays from various countries, and PowerPoint presentations sharing cultural facts, quizzes and traditions.
Overall, Chelmsford College’s Cultural Celebration Week was a success. It not only brought people together but also reinforced the College’s commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion within the College environment.
