AI for Business: Your AI Transformation Pathway
From AI curiosity to organisational capability
AI is changing how organisations work, compete and grow. For most employers the question is no longer whether AI will affect them, but where to start, what to prioritise, and how to build the leadership, skills and governance to use it well.
Our AI Transformation Pathway gives you a clear, staged route: understand where you are, equip your leaders, build expertise in-house, then scale skills across your workforce. Much of it is government-funded for eligible employers.
We deliver the pathway with HoSoMoTo, a UK-based Platinum provider of AI CERTs, and SEATS, our strategic employer engagement partner.

One framework. Four steps. Lasting capability.
Start wherever suits your organisation. Many employers begin with the free assessment; others go straight to leadership development or an AI Champion. Each step builds on the last.
Is this right for your organisation?
The pathway is designed for organisations that want to:
- Use AI to improve productivity, decision-making and customer service
- Set an AI strategy but aren't sure where to start
- Adopt AI safely, with the right governance and compliance in place
- Build capability in-house rather than rely on consultants
- Make the most of apprenticeship funding and the Apprenticeship Levy
Step 1: Understand your AI readiness
Free AI Readiness Assessment
Every successful AI programme starts with a clear picture of where you are now. Our free assessment, delivered with HoSoMoTo, reviews your organisation's AI maturity and shows where AI can make the biggest difference.
You'll get a clear view of:
- Your current AI capability and maturity
- Priority use cases and opportunities for automation
- Leadership readiness and workforce skills gaps
- Governance, policy and risk considerations
- A practical AI roadmap with tailored next steps
Step 2: Build AI-ready leaders
Funded AI Leadership Units (Level 5)*
Technology alone doesn't transform an organisation. Leadership does.
Our AI Leadership Units are new, government-funded apprenticeship units for leaders who set direction, make investment decisions and oversee how AI is used. Each unit is practical, short and built around your own organisation, so learning goes straight into the workplace.
Leaders can take the single unit that matches their role, or the integrated pathway covering all three.
Unit 1: AI Strategy and Opportunity
Turn AI potential into organisational advantage.
Leaders learn how to:
- Set AI strategy and policy aligned to your goals, values and appetite for risk
- Evaluate AI opportunities using evidence, including the risks
- Build business cases that account for the impact on your workforce and reputation
- Test viability through use cases and pilots before investing
- Win support for AI from colleagues, including non-technical teams
Ideal for: business owners, CEOs, managing directors and senior leadership teams.

Unit 2: AI Adoption, Procurement and Governance
Choose the right AI and govern it responsibly.
Leaders learn how to:
- Evaluate AI solutions and suppliers on cost, performance, risk and data readiness
- Make procurement decisions based on testing, benchmarking and user feedback
- Assess acquisition risks, including vendor lock-in, data, IP and sustainability
- Design an AI governance framework with clear roles, responsibilities and escalation
- Build in ethical, legal and regulatory requirements, with human oversight of AI systems
Ideal for: directors, governance and compliance leads, operations managers and procurement teams.

Unit 3: AI Delivery and Organisational Transformation
Lead AI-enabled change that lasts.
Leaders learn how to:
- Lead AI-enabled change aligned to long-term organisational goals
- Manage the workforce impact of AI, including reskilling and role redesign
- Put organisation-wide AI risk management, audit and incident planning in place
- Monitor AI systems once live, including bias, drift and security risks
- Communicate AI risks and opportunities clearly to staff, customers and regulators
Ideal for: transformation leads, heads of department, operations and project managers.

Step 3: Develop an internal AI Champion
Level 4 AI and Automation Practitioner Apprenticeship*
The organisations getting most value from AI are building expertise from within. An AI Champion turns your strategy into action: finding opportunities, building practical solutions and helping colleagues adopt them safely.
Your AI Champion will learn to:
- Spot opportunities to automate tasks and remove inefficiency
- Analyse and redesign workflows to use AI and automation
- Evaluate AI and automation tools and platforms
- Build solutions with low-code and no-code tools, such as chatbots and automated workflows
- Run workshops and support colleagues to adopt new tools
- Measure the impact and embed safe, responsible AI use
Instead of relying on outside help, you'll build lasting capability that keeps delivering value long after the first project.

*Funding: AI Leadership Units are government-funded apprenticeship units for eligible employers. Learners must be employed, aged 19 or over, and in a leadership role with responsibility for technology change and investment decisions. Each unit ends with a skills test, validated by the employer.
