Award-Winning Inclusive Initiative at Chelmsford College!
On the 16th January 2025, staff from Chelmsford College were invited to attend an Employer Celebration event at Hylands House, hosted by HMP and YOI Chelmsford. The College’s Steps 2 Inclusive Employment initiative was recognised and nominated in two categories: the Employment Ready Award and Through the Gate Champion, highlighting its unwavering dedication and support in helping returning citizens enter the workforce.
In attendance on behalf of the Steps 2 team were Andy Vaccari, Sarah Hamilton, Jon Edwards and Maddie Hamilton. They were delighted to be welcomed at the event with inspiring opening speeches, a lived experience speaker, the awards presentation and a sit down meal!
Chelmsford College proudly won the Employment Ready Award “In recognition of partners delivering employability workshops, such as CV writing, job searching and interview techniques, supporting prisoners to prepare for the world of work on release.” Nominated alongside ten other inspirational employers, the team was overjoyed to be presented with this valued award, acknowledging all of their hard work on this important mission.
Commenting on the event's success, Andy Vaccari, Head of Business Development, thanked HMP Chelmsford for their support and positivity and said, "This achievement is a testament to the incredible work of my passionate team and partners in helping individuals rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society.” With gratitude all around, David Warnes, Principal and CEO at Chelmsford College, also expressed that this award is “a great vindication of the impact Steps 2 has on the lives of many."
