Community Partnership Strengthened Between Chelmsford College and HMP Chelmsford
Andy Vaccari, Head of Business Development at Chelmsford College, recently visited HMP Chelmsford to take part in a small jobs fair. The visit focused on informing returning citizens about opportunities across different industries, including the qualifications they might need and how they can enrol in the College’s short courses.

Andy had the chance to speak directly with motivated and enthusiastic individuals, offering guidance on developing skills and exploring career paths. The event also brought together local employers, highlighting the importance of collaboration in supporting learners as they plan for the future.
Chelmsford College already supports vulnerable learners, including returning citizens, through its Steps2 initiative, which helps individuals enter the workforce and works with employers to promote inclusive employment practices. The partnership with HMP Chelmsford reflects the College’s ongoing commitment to education for all ages and backgrounds and community engagement, providing learners with the guidance and inspiration to take the next step in their personal and professional journeys.
Andy, expressed his appreciation for the invitation by stating "It was an experience that will stay with me for a long time. I met many motivated and enthusiastic learners who are determined to turn their lives around. Their honesty and willingness to engage with education and skills training was genuinely inspiring. A huge thank you to HMP Chelmsford for the invite and brining organisations together in such a meaningful way. This is the kind of partnership that changes lives and strengthens our community. I’m proud that Chelmsford College can play a part in this."
