Inspiring Learners with Ready Respect Safe Week
From the 30th of September to the 4th of October 2024, Chelmsford College hosted Ready Respect Safe (RRS) Week.
The week focused on emphasising respect, safety, and well-being within the community, with a range of activities on offer to benefit the learners. From workshops to interactive sessions and stalls, the week was jam-packed, allowing learners to develop personally and professionally.
Highlights of the week included Gavin McKenna from Reach Every Generation visiting to discuss the impact of choices and how they can influence your future regarding County Lines, drugs, and gang culture. Gavin kindly and inspiringly shared an insight into his own personal journey which we are sure learners appreciated. Simon Warnes from Sharp UK also kindly presented to the learners providing employment tips and preparation advice for life beyond College. Many others also provided valuable visits, including the likes of Safer Places, Adelle Barker, Street Doctors and Animal Aid, as well as many great others!
Overall, RRS Week was a huge success and Chelmsford College would like to thank everyone who helped make this happen, especially the staff members who organised it and the brilliant guest speakers for their support. Everyone has done a great job in helping enrich the learning experience and promote the importance of being ready, respectful and safe at Chelmsford College.
Laura Eastwood, the Life Skills and Enrichment Manager for Chelmsford College, commented on the success of the week by saying, "I am so pleased with how RRS Week unfolded. There was a good mix of people involved, from charities working on mental health to Adelle Barker discussing her journey becoming a transgender woman, to the likes of drug culture and many others. The wide variety reflected in the engagement of our learners as we witnessed them appreciate the sessions and often even stay behind to ask further questions. I am grateful for everyone who helped make this week a success, we cannot wait to develop it even further in the future!"
