Culture and Community at Chelmsford College!
The learners and staff at Chelmsford College have been enjoying a variety of activities and enrichment opportunities since starting the 2025/26 academic year. Some of the highlights include performances from an African drumming duo and musician Joel Foster which the whole College community enjoyed!
With October marking Black History Month, the College’s Life Skills team worked hard to secure the amazing Mbilla Arts to perform African drumming onsite at the campus reception on the 9th October. Learners and staff alike joined in with the fun as Mbilla Arts did a great job with getting everyone involved, helping the College celebrate Black History Month. Some learners expressed how grateful they were for the opportunity to witness a cultural celebration like this, as they typically wouldn’t get to see such a performance. Staff members also commented on the exciting atmosphere on the day and how it was great to see the community dancing and singing along together!

Keeping up the positivity, Chelmsford College welcomed Joel Foster, singer and songwriter, back onsite to perform on the 14th October. Joel had previously visited the College during Mental Health Awareness Week to perform and speak about the importance of good mental health. After being so warmly received by the College community, they were delighted to invite him back for a second time so any new learners and staff or those who missed him last time got the chance to see his wonderful songs and feel uplifted! Helping make the event even more special was the College’s photography learners who helped capture it (through the photos here).
Overall, it has been a busy yet exciting start to the 2025/26 academic year and Chelmsford College remains dedicated to providing learners with social opportunities as well as meeting their academic needs. These events are just a glimpse of the experience’s learners can continue to look forward to this year.
