Essex Pride Welcomes Back Chelmsford College
June 2025 marks Pride Month and with Chelmsford College having a commitment to fostering an inclusive culture "promoting fairness and equity in all its undertakings", the College were delighted to be welcomed back to host a stall with a range of activities. The event took place in Chelmsford Central Park on Saturday 21st June and had an estimated turnout of around 4000 people excited to celebrate Pride.
Deviee Bouri, Teaching, Learning and Skills Coach at Chelmsford College, coordinated the College’s attendance and ensured the stall remained creative and entertaining piquing the interest of all attendees. Festival goers who had the pleasure of visiting the stall, situated in the heart of the field, could enjoy free face painting, hair glitter, giveaways and enhance their knowledge of the different LGBTQ+ Pride Flags.
As well as speaking with the general public to help raise awareness of Pride, staff members also enjoyed speaking with potential future Chelmsford College learners, sharing the variety of course options. Deviee and the team were also overjoyed to catch up with existing and previous Chelmsford College learners, who were also all promoting equality through enjoying the function.
Aside from the stalls exhibited throughout the event, Essex Pride 2025 also featured lively parades and two stages, one dedicated for drag acts and the other music acts. This added to the vibrant atmosphere and made for a successful sunny Saturday celebrating Pride.
David Warnes, Principal and CEO at Chelmsford College, thanked staff members for their efforts by saying "I want to offer my thanks and congratulations to Deviee Bouri and members of the Pride EDI Network, for their awareness raising of LGBTQ+ within the college and beyond. It was great to see a Chelmsford College presence at the Chelmsford Pride Festival last week and the work that Erin and others have been doing promoting Pride in the reception and elsewhere."
