Chelmsford College Takes Part in Christmas Listening Action
On the 9th of December, learners and staff from Chelmsford College joined forces with Citizens Essex for Christmas Listening Action at Chelmsford Bus Station, bringing the community together to address key issues around public transport.
The community event saw surrounding local organisations, including The Cathedral Primary School, The Diocese of Chelmsford, Anglia Ruskin University, and Families in Focus, join us in coming together to engage with the public and hear their thoughts on Chelmsford’s buses. All were invited to share whether they felt the city’s buses belonged on Santa’s naughty or nice list, along with a Christmas wish list for improving local bus services.
Conversations revealed a number of concerns and ideas, including:
• Better accessibility for wheelchairs and mobility aids
• Solar-powered lighting in bus stops
• Improvements to safety and service reliability
The feedback gathered will help shape specific proposals to be presented to bus companies in the new year, as Citizens Essex continues to campaign for positive change.
Rebecca Warren, Co-Chair of Citizens Essex, also joined the event, showing her support for community-led action.
Air pollution, accessibility, safety, and the climate crisis are all justice issues that affect our community. This initiative demonstrated the power of collective listening and action to bring about meaningful solutions. Overall, Chelmsford College is proud to partner with local partners in making a difference in our community.
