Over 100 Industry Experts Are Taking Part in the College's Largest Industry Week Ever!
From Tuesday 4 February 2020, over 2,000 Chelmsford College students will take part in "Industry Week". Every student will be given the chance to see up to four industry experts across the week. All year groups, vocational areas, apprentices and part-time students are included.
Industry experts will include ambassadors from Network Rail, Morgan Sindall, CITB, Investment 2020, BAE, DST, Chufd (the global creative social enterprise), Be Inspired Media, BBC's Vicky Carter, Ace Comics and Dlala Studios. There will be representatives from public services including the Police, Fire and the Army. Other Industry Experts include Benefit Makeup, Charlotte Tilbury, Essex Cricket and West Ham Football. There will be an interactive room where students can hear from College alumni students at ARU talk about careers including nursing, midwifery and other health sectors.
Sarah-Jane Easdown, Information, Advice and Guidance Team Leader at Chelmsford College said "We are really looking forward to this week! Students can gain an insight into their chosen vocational area. This can be really motivational and inspirational. These talks could also get students to think outside the box and maybe consider careers that they were unaware of. Many industry experts also share news of job opportunities and work experience vacancies. Students get inspired as a result of this event - their eyes are opened - and they consider new opportunities."
This will be the largest local collaboration of prominent industry leaders and the third year of the College's Industry Week. Each year the event grows in scale and impact. It takes a dedicated team to produce the event, including staff from Anglian Ruskin University, the "Make Happen" Team and staff from Chelmsford College.
Students' feedback, post-event, helps to improve the event year-on-year and the College's Learner Voice has voted that it's a really valuable experience. After the event students will be supported through group tutorials with help from their Tutors, Learning Coaches and the Careers Advice Zone Team to consider their next steps.
