Princes Road campus celebrates new facilities
Chelmsford College were delighted to officially open the redeveloped Princes Road Campus on Thursday 5 September. Chair of Governors, Elaine Oddie OBE cut the ribbon to mark the occasion. The newly refurbished campus includes a brand new entrance, purpose-built reception and atrium and new café and refectory seating. The Princes Road campus features specialist equipment and resources for teaching Construction, Engineering and Electrical and Hair, Beauty and Hospitality and Catering.
The refurbishment took place in two stages, with the Princes Salons being launched as part of the first phase. The Hair and Beauty Team moved from Beacon House in the City centre last September to a dedicated wing of the Princes Road College Campus - kitted out with cutting edge resources and technology. Purpose-built treatment rooms, hair salons and a separate entrance and Reception area means clients can experience Hair and Beauty treatments as though they are visiting a commercial salon.
The latest work completes the second stage.
Debs Hurst, Vice Principal Finance and Corporate Services at Chelmsford College and in charge of the works says "The redevelopment work at Princes Road campus took just over 18 months to complete and involved a budget of £1.1m. It’s important to us to maintain high standards on our campuses, creating bright, vibrant and accessible spaces for our students and staff. It’s a marked improvement on our previous layout and we and our students are delighted with the results."
Principal Andy Sparks says "This significant investment at Princes Road is a big step forward and achieves another positive milestone in our journey towards being an outstanding College. The ongoing refurbishment and development of our Princes Road campus shows our commitment to investing in state-of-the-art facilities for the curriculum we offer at this campus. The redevelopment has created a more welcoming and up-to-date learning environment, which will positively benefit both students and employers alike."
