This brand-new qualification for 2026 focuses on the social care sector and gives you a strong foundation of the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to work in this rewarding field. You’ll develop practical and technical skills while exploring a wide range of topics, from working in social care and supporting others to anatomy and physiology, dementia awareness, autism and end-of-life care.
A key part of the course is completing 100 hours of work placement, providing you with real world experience in health or social care settings while you study. This hands-on experience will strengthen your CV, help you understand the industry first-hand and allow you to build valuable professional connections.
Study Overview
This full time Level 3 Social Care qualification is ideal for learners who want to begin a career in health and social care and make a real difference to people’s lives. You will study key areas of adult care, completing 23 units that include working in social care, communication, safeguarding, mental health, learning disabilities, dementia, infection control and health and safety. The course combines classroom learning with practical experience, including a work placement, helping you develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed for roles within the industry. Assessment is through a portfolio of evidence rather than exams, making it a supportive route for learners who prefer continuous assessment.
Progression and Employment Opportunities
- Learners who complete this qualification could progress to employment in the healthcare sector in roles such as such as Care Worker, Personal Assistant, Community Support Worker, Outreach Worker and Activities Co-Ordinator.
- Alternatively, you may wish to progress to higher level study such as a degree in social work, social care, health care, nursing or counselling.
- You could also progress to a higher level apprenticeship in a skilled profession such as Emergency Care Assistant or Health Care Worker.
