If you're interested in a fulfilling career in Health and Social Care, this Level 2 Health and Social Care course is perfect for you. This Health and Social Care course is based on internal assessment and portfolio work that will provide key knowledge and practical caring skills required to work in a wide range of care environments. Overall, this course will provide a solid foundation for you to build upon later, in employment or by progressing to a higher level of study. 

Study Overview

Your health care study programme includes a range of units to give you knowledge and an understanding of key subject areas in health and social care. 

These will include:  

  • Human growth and development 
  • Working in health and social care 
  • Effective communication in health and social care 
  • Nutrition 
  • Common care disorders 

Progression and Employment Opportunities

On successful completion of the Level 2 programme, including English, Maths and Biology (or Science) at grades 4-9 grade, you will be considered for progression onto the T Level in Health or other Level 3 courses.  

If you wish to go into employment, you may apply for positions in care homes and other related fields, such as community work in social care, residential care, and the voluntary sector. Alternatively, you may wish to apply for Apprenticeships in Health and Social Care.  

Additional Qualifications Studied

If you do not already have GCSE Maths and English Language at grades 9-4 or Functional skills level 2, you will be required to study GCSE English Language and Maths.  

If you have GCSE English Language at grades 4-9, you will also study GCSE Biology. This course covers the science requirements for T Level health and provides a foundation for the T Level anatomy and physiology. 

We also work closely with stakeholders, including NHS England, to improve our healthcare programmes based on their feedback.
