T Level in Education and Childcare (Specialism in Early Years Educator), Level 3

Is this course for me?

T Levels are a 2-year qualification that you can do after GCSEs as an alternative to A levels, other post-16 courses, or an apprenticeship. 

They have been designed with leading businesses and employers to give you the knowledge and skills you need to progress to university courses, higher apprenticeships and employment.  

You’ll spend time in the classroom and in placement with an employer to give you the skills and knowledge companies look for. Your industry placement of 750 hours, allows you to learn what a real career is like while you continue your studies.  

Experience of being with children is not essential but will be very beneficial for your study programme. 

Study Overview

Your learning will include units:

• Supporting education, including those with special education needs and disabilities and those speaking English as a second language
• Safeguarding
• Working with parents, families and carers, as well as child development.

Key elements of this course are, observation, assessment and reflective practice. The occupational specialism is 'early years educator' which includes how to support the class teacher to enhance children’s education individually and in groups. You will further develop theories learned on the programme and learn how to plan, provide and review educational opportunities in collaboration with teachers and other adults. 

Progression and Employment Opportunities

Following a T-Level, you could progress into a Teaching Assistant, Nursery Worker, or Playworker to name a few, or you could continue your studies with a degree or higher-level apprenticeship or into teacher training.
