If you are passionate about pursuing a career in plumbing, this exciting qualification is an excellent option for you. This course is suitable for beginners as a first step into the construction industry. The plumbing industry is always in high demand and offers a wide range of opportunities for growth and advancement. During this programme, you will learn basic skills and advance your knowledge whilst being supervised as you undertake various practical and knowledge-based activities.
Study Overview
This course covers various units to ensure you’re equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to progress into the career you wish. Units of study you can expect to study:
- Installation, repair, and maintenance of plumbing systems
- Above-ground drainage
- Pipework (copper, plastic, low carbon steel)
- Plumbing science
Core units will also include:
- Structure of the construction industry
- Fundamental safe working practices
- Environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings
- Site preparation in the construction industry.

Level 2 Plumbing full time
Career opportunities may include employment in the construction industry, or you could undertake an apprenticeship in plumbing.
Additional Qualifications Studied
All Level 1 learners will also complete a Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment to allow you to access a CSCS card which you will need to be able to go on site.
We collaborate with stakeholders, including CITB and Quantum, to enhance our construction programmes based on their feedback. (This has led to the addition of the CSCS/H&S certificate, E3 Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Award, and Understanding Domestic Retrofit Award to align with industry needs).
You will study Life Skills and continue to study a maths and English qualification if you have not achieved a Grade 4 or Functional Skills Level 2.
