Extended Technical Occupational Entry for Painting and Decorating (Diploma), Level 2

The Level 2 Painting and Decorating Diploma is designed to provide learners with the necessary skills and knowledge to become semi-skilled bricklayers, ready for employment and NVQ assessment in the workplace. The programme offers an extensive range of training in workshop skills specific to painting and decorating. Additionally, learners will gain in-depth knowledge of the principles of painting and decorating, construction, and health and safety regulations. The programme's practical approach ensures that learners have the opportunity to polish their skills and gain hands-on experience. Upon completion of this painting and decorating course, learners will be equipped with the skills and knowledge required to embark on a successful career in this industry.
Study Overview
To ensure you’re equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to progress how you wish after completing, this course is made up of a range of units that cover the fundamentals of painting and decorating. The units studied are:
- Health and safety in construction
- The construction industry
- Preparing surfaces for decoration
- Applying paint by a brush?and roller
- Applying standard coverings to walls and ceilings
- Produce decorative finishes

Additional Qualifications Studied
All learners will also complete a Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment to allow you to access a CSCS card, which you will need to be able to go on site.
We collaborate with stakeholders, including CITB and Quantum, to enhance our construction programmes based on their feedback. This has led to the addition of the CSCS/H&S certificate, L1 Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Award, and Understanding Domestic Retrofit Award to align with industry needs.
