VTCT Diploma in Beauty Specialist Techniques, Level 2
Is this course for me?
This course has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills for the beauty industry. Successful completion will allow you to progress onto the Level 3 qualification to become a qualified beauty therapist. If you're interested in developing your skills in treatments such as eyelash and brow treatments, removing hair using waxing techniques, applying make-up, manicure, pedicure and skincare, then this course is for you. By learning specialist techniques, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate those skills by working on practical units. To ensure you understand the industry as a whole, you will develop your knowledge of health and safety practices in a salon environment, how to contribute to the effective running of a beauty business, how to carry out effective salon reception duties, and how to display retail stock to promote sales in the salon. Overall, the purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills in beauty therapy to a high level of occupational ability, to enable you to perform a variety of salon services.
Study Overview
This Level 2 Beauty Specialist Techniques course offers an overview of a range of units to ensure that upon completion, you have a sound understanding of the industry. Units include:
- Health and safety
- Consultation techniques and client care
- Manicure and pedicure treatments
- Waxing
- Facial skincare
- Eyelash and brow treatments
- Perming eyelashes
- Make-up application
- Tanning
- Creating and image
- Anatomy and physiology for beauty therapists
- Salon receptionist and processing payments
Please note that learners are expected to work on each other initially to gain practical experience before they work on paying clients in The Princes Salons. Learners will also complete a minimum of 30 hours work related experience.
Progression and Employment Opportunities
Upon successful completion, you may wish to progress by furthering your study. This could be by undertaking an apprenticeship or the Level 3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy Treatments. If you'd prefer to start your career journey, opportunities may include the following roles:
- Salon Technician
- Junior Salon Receptionist
- Junior Beauty Therapist
- Junior Spa Therapist
- Level 3 Apprenticeship
Additional Qualifications Studied
You will study Life Skills and also continue to study a maths and English qualification if you have not achieved a Grade 4 or Functional Skills Level 2.
