Essex Cricket Stand Restored by Chelmsford College Learners

From the 23rd-27th February, Chelmsford College’s full-time study learners completed a Work Experience Week. Designed to ensure learners leave College with both qualifications and employability skills, they were lucky enough to spend the week with professional industry employers experiencing the hustle and bustle of real working environments.

Essex County Cricket Club is a great example of one of the establishments who very kindly provided Chelmsford College learners with a placement opportunity. The Level 2 Painting and Decorating department were fortunate enough to visit the grounds to undertake key restoration and refurbishment work on the Members Stand. The stand is a main focal point shown during televised match days meaning learners will be able to watch their work in action on tv once the updates have been completed!

Despite challenging weather conditions throughout the week, the learners stayed committed and demonstrated professionalism and a positive work ethic.

As a result of Work Experience Week, Essex Cricket now has enhanced and improved facilities and the learners have valuable, first-hand experience to support their future careers. This highlights how Chelmsford College and the wider local community work together to give back and create two-way meaningful partnerships.
