Chelmsford College Student Governors Celebrated at Westminster Event
Chelmsford College is proud to announce the success of its two Student Governors, Anabella Russell and Daniel Holland, who were both shortlisted for Student Governor of the Year at a prestigious event held at Burberry HQ in Westminster London, hosted by Unloc as part of the Student Governor Programme 2024/25.
The event brought together student representatives from colleges across the country to recognise outstanding contributions to student voice, leadership, and governance. Out of the ten students shortlisted nationally for the award, two were from Chelmsford College… making up an incredible 20% of the final list.
This marks a significant achievement not just for Anabella and Daniel, but also for Chelmsford College, highlighting the strength of its learner leadership and commitment to representation and providing a community voice.
The event took place in Burberry’s glamorous headquarters, just a stone’s throw from Westminster. For both Anabella and Daniel, it was their first time visiting Westminster which added an extra layer of excitement to an already unforgettable day.
The celebration featured inspirational speakers, insightful panel discussions and an awards ceremony recognising Student Governors for their passion and impact within their roles. Attendees also had the opportunity to network with fellow student leaders and engage in discussions about shaping the future of further education.
Reflecting on the event, Daniel shared "Wow! What an amazing experience with Unloc! I had the honour of attending the first Student Governor Programme event at Burberry HQ in Westminster. It was truly an unforgettable experience that I will cherish throughout my journey in Further Education - and I couldn't have done it without the amazing group of supporters standing behind me and my fellow Student Governor Anabella."
Both Anabella and Daniel received heartfelt nominations from the Chelmsford College Governance Board, highlighting their commitment, enthusiasm, and influence as student leaders. Their recognition at a national level reflects the important role Student Governors play in shaping the college experience for their peers.
Chelmsford College is incredibly proud of Anabella and Daniel’s achievements and grateful for their contributions to the student community. Their presence at this event showcases the College’s ongoing focus on student voice, participation, and inclusive leadership. Congratulations to both Student Governors for representing Chelmsford College with such professionalism and pride.
