The evening began with a warm welcome from Sarah Hamilton, Executive Director of Innovation and Partnerships, followed by David Warnes, Principal and CEO. Attendees then heard from Mark Byerly, who delivered an insightful presentation on HTQs and their value for both employees seeking to upskill and employers looking to invest in their workforce.

A standout moment was Roma Agrawal’s keynote speech. As a professional engineer with an unconventional journey into the industry, she shared highlights from her impressive career, including her work on The Shard to her latest venture, now writing books. Roma emphasised the various routes, aside from gaining a degree, into industry and how various skills, including teamwork, are crucial for success.

To provide further insight, Heads of Departments led an engaging Q&A session, answering sector-specific questions from guests. In addition to hearing about how the college’s HTQs are a good option of study, guests also had the opportunity to see where learners will study, with a tour around the college’s brand new Higher Education Centre.

Overall, the event was a success and Chelmsford College is excited about its expanding opportunities for adult learners alongside its already established full-time courses and apprenticeships for those 16+. A special thanks to the various staff members who played a part in bringing the event together, including Sarah Hamilton, Lucy Kelly, Jackie Northedge, the estate's team, Cheryl Lennon and her catering learners, who provided delicious canopies throughout the night and The Event Foundry, who supported the College.
