Jobs and Skills Fair declared huge success
Chelmsford City Centre recently saw over 300 visitors and 37 exhibitors take part in the most successful Chelmsford Jobs and Skills Fair to-date. The Jobs Fair took place at the Civic Centre, Duke Street from 10am until 2pm on Saturday 14 September. Hundreds of jobs were on offer, along with apprenticeships, training opportunities and free, impartial careers advice and guidance.
The Jobs and Skills Fair offered access to several large employers including British Army, Police, Royal Mail and Screwfix. Enterprise East provided a café which proved really popular and exhibitors were on hand to discuss local job and training opportunities. The group behind organising the Fair is Chelmsford Education Learning and Skills Group (CELS) and they’ve run this event for the past four years.
Vicky Ford MP attended the event and said "I was delighted to join the Jobs and Skills Fair at Chelmsford Civic Centre and spend the morning with a huge variety of different organisations. Many of the employers are offering training too. It is clear that there are a very wide range of opportunities available for all people in Chelmsford, events like this Jobs and Skills Fair are extremely important to bring together employers and potential employees."
Sarah Hamilton, Director of Business Services at Chelmsford College said "We are in our 5th year and I believe this is our best year yet. We wanted to upscale the Fair and I believe we have achieved this. It’s great to see so many exhibitors and the visitors just keep on coming. It’s great to run a community event that supports Chelmsford residents in upskilling or gaining employment."
The event is sponsored by three main partners, Chelmsford City Council, Chelmsford College and Department for Work and Pensions. The Jobs and Skills Fair offers jobs, apprenticeship and training opportunities and career advice and is aimed at people looking for work.
