Is this course for me?

T Levels are a 2-year qualification that you can do after GCSEs as an alternative to A Levels, other post-16 courses or an apprenticeship.

The curriculum has been designed with leading businesses and employers to ensure you're equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge the industry is looking for.

You’ll spend 80% of your time in the classroom and 20% on a 45-day placement with an employer to give you the skills and knowledge companies look for.

Your industry placement also gives you the chance to learn what a real career is like while you continue your studies. Like A Levels and BTECs, there are no tuition fees to study a T Level if you start before you are 19

Study Overview

There are three Performance Outcomes (PO) to ensure this Legal Services T Level is well rounded and comprehensive:

  • PO1: Assist with the inception, progression and completion of legal services in Business, Finance and Employment
  • PO2: Carry out legal and factual research and present findings both orally and in writing in Business, Finance and Employment
  • PO3: Draft legal documents and standard legal communications in Business, Finance and Employment, for review by a supervisor

Across the 2 years you will study a variety of topics to ensure that upon successful completion, you are ready to secure employment or progress your studies.

In year 1 you will cover units such as:

  • The business environment
  • Regulation
  • Careers within the legal professions
  • Security and risk

While in year 2, you will specialise in Legal Services Assistant in Business, Finance and Employment.

We also collaborate with stakeholders, including Chelmsford City Council, to increase opportunities for learners to develop their entrepreneurial skills, such as through a Youth Innovation Event.

Progression and Employment Opportunities

The qualification is intended to help you progress into highly skilled employment in the Legal Services sector, with a focus on business services or crime and criminal justice.

Job roles open to you once you complete your T Level could include:

  • Paralegal
  • Legal Secretary Usher.
