TQUK Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner

This qualification is ideal for people looking to work with children between birth and 5 years.

Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement to show competence in both knowledge and skills. The purpose of this Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Diploma is to gain the understanding and skills that a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner needs to demonstrate to be considered qualified to support young children.

Study Overview

The aim of this Childcare course is to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 5 years of age. To ensure you are equipped to progress upon successful completion, this course covers the below nine mandatory units you must achieve:

• Understand the role of the early years practitioner
• Health and Safety in a childcare setting
• Safeguarding in a childcare setting
• Understand child development 
• Communication with children
• Supporting activities, purposeful play and educational programmes
• Supporting children with special educational needs
• Working with others in early years childcare
• Understand the principles of wellbeing in children

Progression and Employment Opportunities

This qualification allows progression on to the TQUK Level 3 Diploma for the Children’s Workforce (Early Years Educator) (RQF) or Level 3 Apprenticeship in Early Years.

Learners may also progress to employment as a Level 2 Practitioner for children aged 0-5 years.
