Study Overview
The course is made up of one externally examined unit, which is mandatory and 8 additional units as follows:
- Introduction to working in engineering (external exam).
- Introduction to machining engineering materials (unit 2).
- Introduction to cutting, forming and assembling engineering materials (unit3).
- Introduction to electronics (unit 5).
- Introduction to electrical installation (unit 6).
- Introduction to cycle maintenance (unit 11).
- Introduction to basic maths and science used in engineering (unit 13).
- Introduction to CAD - computer aided drawing (unit 15).
- Project (unit 17).
Progression and Employment Opportunities
Progression to further study could include the level 2 VRQ Diploma in Engineering Technologies or an apprenticeship such as the level 2 Engineering Operative standard.
Career opportunities may include operative, trainee or technician positions in the engineering and manufacturing sectors.
