Equivalent to three A Levels, our Visual Communications & Styling for Fashion course is designed to teach you how to craft engaging visual stories through fashion and design and become a confident and versatile creative practitioner. You’ll learn how to develop strong brands and communicate brand identity through creative design, styling and digital media. Whether you want to work for a fashion brand, launch launch your own company, work in magazine editorial, fashion branding or build on a more creative direction – this course gives you the fundamental skills to succeed in the industry.
Designed for the creative industry, this course equips you with the practical skills and critical thinking needed to thrive across multiple platforms, including research, art techniques, design, creating magazines and digital media.

Study Overview
This course equips you with a foundation of industry-standard skills and techniques, using professional software such as Adobe Creative Cloud. You’ll be taught by experience industry professionals to develop your creative vision through through a mix of practical and digital workshops.
- Studio techniques –screen-printing, Lino cut, fabric dyeing, cyanotype, fabric painting, etc
- Research and design – learn how to research the history of fashion to create unique themes and designs
- Textile design – get to grips with the basics of how to create impactful designs for fabrics from your own hand drawn or digitally created designs
- Sustainability in fashion – understand how to work as an ethical, forward-thinking creative, upcycling garments and accessories
- Fashion styling – learn how to create impactful fashion campaigns editorial shots
- Photography workshops – master how to get the best results on photoshoots working with (student) photographers, in our fully equipped photographic studio
- Creative media projects – produce professional standard fashion communications projects
- Digital and print media – build a portfolio of editorial, branding and marketing work using industry leading software: Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Canva
- Create your own magazine – learn how to write, photograph and design your own fashion, interiors or lifestyle magazine!
Through lectures, workshops, tutorials and real-world industry briefs, you’ll refine your skills in our fully fashion studios, photographic studios and computer suites.

- Harry Potter Studio tour
- Visits to galleries and leading exhibitions
- Theatre trips and backstage tours
We also collaborate with stakeholders, including University of the Arts London, to continually develop our programmes by listening to feedback. From doing this, all art and design programmes are to be assessed via live briefs set by stakeholders ensuring learners meet and acknowledge industry requirements.

- Progressing to Level 4 in Creative Enterprise– delivered at Chelmsford College
- UCAS-recognised qualification, allowing you to apply for BA degree courses in Fashion Communication, Styling, Digital Marketing, Fashion Journalism and Creative Direction and more.
