Is this course for me?

T Levels are a 2-year qualification that you can do after GCSEs as an alternative to A Levels, other post-16 courses or an apprenticeship.

The curriculum has been designed with leading businesses and employers to ensure you're equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge the industry is looking for.

You’ll spend 80% of your time in the classroom and 20% on a 45-day placement with an employer to give you the skills and knowledge companies look for.

Your industry placement also gives you the chance to learn what a real career is like while you continue your studies. Like A Levels and BTECs, there are no tuition fees to study a T Level if you start before you are 19.

Study Overview

Learners will develop an understanding of a broad range of issues relevant to the sector, including:

  • People: the importance and impact of people
  • Finance: how revenue and expenditure is tracked and controlled
  • Business Context: an overview of organisational cultures and values, different types of internal and external stakeholders, different forms of governance and the impact of organisations on society and the environment
  • Project and Change Management: an understanding of the common change management theories and models and how to support and improve projects
  • Business Behaviours: the importance of good communication and adapting social communication styles to professional standards according to purpose, medium and audience
  • Quality and Compliance: the importance of maintaining and improving quality in all aspects of public and private sector organisations
  • Policies: how organisations develop policies and why

In addition to the core content, each learner will also specialise in team leadership and management in the second year of the programme.

We also collaborate with stakeholders, including Chelmsford City Council, to increase opportunities for learners to develop their entrepreneurial skills, such as through a Youth Innovation Event.
