UAL Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Creative Practice: Games Design

Is this course for me?

Would you like to become a Games Designer or Animator? With this games design course, you can explore the creative and technical aspects of games and animation production and gain the necessary skills to develop, produce, and publish games and animation titles. We work closely with industry partners to ensure that our content remains relevant whilst giving you excellent networking opportunities in the games and animation industry. You will develop your skills using industry-standard software and hardware such as Autodesk, Adobe Creative Suite, and 2D and 3D game engines. By using professional techniques acquired through lectures, tutorials, seminars, and industry workshops, you will develop a portfolio of industry-standard work. 

Study Overview

You will learn about story and level development pipelines and game mechanics design and implementation. We also cover 3D modeling skills so you can develop an understanding of 3D game engines. You will have the opportunity to work on a group project as a junior member of a development team. You will begin to specialise your skillset through a variety of module choices in games design and animation and decide on a career pathway that includes game designer, 2D animator, 3D animator, level designer, and 3D modeler.

A series of guest speakers are included as part of the programme. You will also benefit from several field trips, our previous trips have included:
