If you are looking for a comprehensive course that covers a variety of topics relating to software development, then this Digital Software Development T Level could be perfect for you.

T Levels are a 2-year qualification that you can do after GCSEs as an alternative to A levels, other post-16 courses or an apprenticeship. They have been designed with leading businesses and employers to give you the knowledge and skills you need. You’ll spend 80% of your time in the classroom and 20% on a 45-day placement with an employer to give you the skills and knowledge companies look for. Your industry placement gives you the chance to learn what a real career is like while you continue your studies. When and how you complete it depends on the T Level, school or college, and employer. Like A levels and BTECs, there are no tuition fees to study a T Level if you start before you are 19.

Study Overview

Students will develop an understanding of:

• How digital technologies impact business
• The ethical and moral implications of digital technology
• Using data in software design
• Using digital technologies to analyse and solve problems
• Digital environments, including physical, virtual and cloud environments
• Emerging technical trends, such as Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR), Blockchain, 3D printing
• Legal and regulatory obligations relating to digital technologies
• The privacy and confidentiality of personal data
• The technical, physical and human aspects of internet security
• Planning digital projects
• Testing software, hardware and data
• Digital tools for project management and collaboration

In addition to the core content, each student will also develop skills in digital production, design and development. The content will include:

• Analysing a problem to define requirements and acceptance criteria aligned to user needs
• Designing, implementing, and testing software
• Changing, maintaining and supporting software
• Creating solutions in a social and collaborative environment
• Discovering, evaluating, and applying reliable sources of knowledge
• Applying ethical principles and managing risks in line with legal and regulatory requirements when developing software

We also collaborate with stakeholders, including Sharp, to continually develop our programmes by listening to feedback and ensuring learners gain real-world experience. 

Progression and Employment Opportunities

Upon successful completion, you can progress directly to higher education (over 50% of our learners go to university), employment or an apprenticeship.
