Level 4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Is this course for me?

The TQUK Certificate in Higher Level Teaching Assistant (RQF) is aimed at those learners currently working as a Teaching Assistant who wish to progress to Higher Level Teaching Assistant status.

The TQUK Level 4 Certificate for Higher Level Teaching Assistants (RQF) will provide learners with the knowledge and understanding when analysing and addressing the different challenges that classroom assistants are likely to encounter. Learners will also understand working with individuals and with small groups as well as gaining essential insight into supporting pupils with special educational needs (SEN). Candidates must be recommended by their school as they will be expected to take full classes at their school from time to time.

Study Overview

This Level 4 Teaching Assistant course is comprised of seven mandatory units that cover a variety of topics to ensure that completion, you have a comprehensive understanding and are confident in the role. 

The mandatory units that you will cover are: 

• Understand the Higher Level Teaching Assistant role
• Child Development and Welfare
• Awareness of Special Educational Needs
• Promoting Positive Behaviour in Children and Young People
• Providing Support for Individual Learners and Small Groups
• Developing Skills to Promote Positive Working Relationships
• Curriculum Planning, Delivery and Assessment

Progression and Employment Opportunities

This course will provide you with the knowledge, understanding and professional skills you can use in your current/future career within education. On completion, you will be a qualified Higher Level teaching Assistant or you can progress to become a qualified teacher.
