Is this course for me?

The Extended Diploma is a 2 year, full time course ideal for anyone who wants to progress to higher education courses in business areas before entering employment. It can also support learners who want to progress directly to employment in job roles in business or business management and higher apprenticeships in the business sector. The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Business is equivalent to 3 A Levels. It offers two routes to choose from, marketing and finance.

This course provides the opportunity to develop employability skills such as:

• Interpersonal Skills

It also provides transferable knowledge and skills for higher education such as:

• Ability to learn independently.
• Ability to research actively and methodically.
• Be able to give presentations and be active group members.

There are 7 mandatory units, 3 internally assessed and 4 externally assessed. In addition to this there are 6 internally assessed units.

This course includes 300 hours of industry placement in the 2nd year.

The course offers the opportunity to take part in our football academy in conjunction with Billericay Town FC.

Progression and Employment Opportunities

• Employment for example: junior business roles in marketing, administration, finance, events management, human resources, communications or accounting.
• University or HND course.
• Higher Apprenticeship/Degree Apprenticeship.

Maths and English - Take it Seriously!

At Chelmsford College we are dedicated to helping all our learners achieve their ambitions and we acknowledge that in order to do well, some of our learners may need extra support in maths and/or English.

We provide specialist teaching as a compulsory part of the study programme for all learners who have not achieved a grade 4 at GCSE in these subjects and we all take maths and English seriously.
