Progression:

The Sixth Form stage in a young person’s life is a transition period between compulsory schooling and university or work.

The primary aim of a young person whilst in the sixth form is to achieve qualifications at the necessary grades to enable him/her to progress on to a chosen destination and to be successful within a chosen career.

To enable our students to achieve their goal we endeavour to ensure that they have a full and exciting range of learning opportunities that will prepare them to do well in both the examination and course- work aspects of their assessment.

Moreover, we seek to provide a supportive and positive learning environment that will enable them to develop the study and social skills required for later life.

Support:

Our students are making the difficult transition from being a school child to being an independent adult learner who will do well at university or in the work place.

This can be a difficult stage in a young person’s life, and we seek to support him/her as he/she makes the transition from adolescence to adulthood, stressing that with adulthood comes responsibility.

All students are allocated a personal tutor and have two hours of dedicated tutorial time each week. We have a comprehensive tutorial programme which is designed to meet the needs of our students whilst they are at college, as well as prepare them to progress on to work or university.

Working with Parents:

It is, however, our experience that students do best when parents and teachers work in partnership. We believe that the parents of all our students play a valuable role in enabling their son/daughter to achieve his/her goals.

We will keep you informed of progress being made, and we will inform you if your son/daughter is not working as expected and/or is failing to attend class. We trust that you will act on all information received, and positively motivate your son/daughter to succeed.
