Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships are designed with the help of employers within the designated industries so that the programme offered is structured to cover the skills you will need to do a job well.
As employees, Apprentices earn a wage and will work alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills. As part of the apprenticeship you will attend a day’s training out of your work environment to work towards nationally recognised qualifications. This provides useful training relevant to your job and will help progress your chosen career.
Through Chelmsford Training Services apprenticeships are available to 16-18 year olds who are not in full-time study or are just leaving school, have been working for a couple of years or are seeking to start a new career.
Apprenticeships are the equivalent to 5 good GCSE passes (Level 2) and Advanced Apprenticeships are the equivalent to 2 A-level passes (Level 3). Apprentices work towards:
- An appropriate work-based qualification such as a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) at either Level 2 or Level 3
- Key Skills qualifications e.g. working in teams, problem-solving, communication and using new technology
- A technical qualification such as a BTEC or City & Guilds (relevant to the specific Apprenticeship)
- Other qualifications or requirement as specified by the particular occupation
The minimum salary is £95 a week; however some apprentices earn significantly more. The key benefits of doing an apprenticeship are:
- Earning a salary, whilst receiving training
- Gaining industry recognised qualifications
- Learning skills specific to your chosen career through hands-on experience
If you are not already working Chelmsford Training Services will match you with an employer to ensure that the role provides the training you want. If you are already in employment, then we will work with your employer to ensure that you are getting what you need out of the training.
