The New AM2 Occupational Competence Assessment Test
The old Achievement Measurement 2 (AM2) Test has been the gold standard for the Electrotechnical industry for the past 25 years and after a long two-year consultation period with the industry the new modified AM2 Occupational Competence Assessment Test was finally launched by NET on the 12th April 2010.
The new AM2 Test is based upon the requirements detailed in the National Occupational Standards for the Electrotechnical Industry and it reflects the changes in current working practices including changes due to technological advances, building regulations, codes of practice and other associated standards.
The Chelmsford AM2 Test Centre is scheduled to commence offering the new AM2 Test during October 2010.
We believe that the new AM2 Test will be a mandatory unit in the new City & Guilds 2357-23 Level 3 Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings & Structures) qualification; however this information will not be confirmed until the scheme documentation is published in October or November 2010.
Individuals who have already obtained the old AM2 Test certificate will not be required to obtain the new AM2 Test certificate.
The AM2 Test Centre is generally open for 48 weeks of the year and is not subject to college term time restrictions.
For candidates who would like to opt for some additional training prior to taking the new AM2 Test, we offer a 2-day optional revision course that is based upon the practical skills and underpinning knowledge identified in the NET Self Assessment Checklist, this course is designed to enhance the candidates existing skills and underpinning knowledge so that they can improve their chance of passing the AM2 Test at the first attempt.
