College Facilities
On enrolment students will receive a Student Union membership card. This will enable you access to the Chelmsford College facilities, and receive discounts from a range of local shops & facilities.
The Learning Centres/Libraries
The College has a Learning Centre/Library at each campus. At Moulsham Street it is on the ground floor near the Restaurant and at Princes Road it is on the first floor. We are open from 8.30am each weekday during termtime.
Both Learning Centres contain a huge stock of resources, which are chosen to support college courses and to provide general information. Most can be borrowed. As well as books and magazines, there is access to online databases, the internet and much more.
We have trained staff to welcome you, to give you all the help you need in finding information, and to support you in using the open access computers.
Every enrolled learner and member of staff is eligible to borrow items for use in or outside College.
Remember that you must always show you College Membership Card to loan resources.
Skills Development Centre
The Skills Development Centre has been designed to help students to achieve their potential. It offers access to a range of excellent resources including the internet and specialist software. You can improve those essential skills that you need in order to progress.
Find out how to improve your reading and writing, and learn more effectively, take command of numbers and upgrade your IT skills. Support and advice are available from a team of specialist staff who will welcome you and help you to make the most of your learning.
CCI.Net: Chelmsford College Intranet
Available to both students and staff, the Intranet provides a versatile communication tool to help facilitate communications within the college between Faculty, Staff, and Students, as well as a wealth of information and tools about the College and its associated resources and facilities.
Cashless Vending
The College has introduced a new cashless vending system. This will enable staff and students to pay for food and drink using their student identity cards. The cards can be credited either by using pay loaders within the college or by using the 'SmartPay' website.

Sports and Recreation
The College has shared use of Dovedale Sports Centre which consists of a multi-purpose hall, fitness room, dance studio and squash courts. A range of indoor activities is available to all students during term time, Monday-Friday 08.00-17.00. All the facilities are free to college students. These include Badminton,Squash, Trampolining, Basketball, Aerobics, Short Tennis and Weight Training.
The College runs teams in Hockey, Netball, Football, Rugby and Basketball and has regular matches against local schools and colleges. These matches are generally played on a Wednesday afternoon. Details of all events will be displayed on notice boards. Further information may be obtained from the Sports Officer, Danielle Surrett (ext 3436). You will be welcomed and encouraged to make full use of the facilities, whether for recreational activities or serious sport, beginner or expert.

Dovedale Sports Centre
Princes Room
A 40-seat restaurant located on the Princes Road site of the College. The purpose of the restaurant is to provide a real experience for students on catering and hospitality courses. Students cook the food and serve it. The menu is varied and of a high quality. The price of a full 3-course lunch including coffee is £7 a head (including VAT) and Wednesday evenings 3 courses and coffee for £12.00 a head, both are excellent value.
Restaurant and Nescafe Coffee Bar
Providing a range of hot and cold meals, drinks and snacks. Special daily lunch menu’s offer a variety of set dishes. Special dietary requirements can be catered for. Various drinks and snacks are also available from the vending machines outside the main entrance to the Restaurant.
Reprographics
If you need a copy of a document or piece of work, go to the reprographics office which is situated in the corridor between the cafeteria and reception. There is also a photocopier in the Learning Centre.

Nursery Mission Statement
The nursery is registered with OfSTED as a full day care setting. It is accredited by the Pre-school Learning Alliance and holds Investors in Children status.
The nursery caters for children from 2 - 5 years and is open term time only from 8.45am to 5.00pm.
We operate from two purpose built units in the grounds of the Moulsham Street Campus. The nursery is staffed by qualified and experienced practitioners and is equipped with toys and resources of the highest standard.
Priority places are offered to students and staff at competitive rates.
To ensure a place for your child applications should be made well in advance of the required start date. (Please contact the nursery in the Summer term if you will be starting a course in September)

Car Parking
All students who need to travel by car are entitled to collect a car park permit. This is issued by Client Services on production of your receipted enrolment card. Although parking permits are available there is no guarantee that students will be able to park on the college site as places are limited. Parking on the surrounding streets is permitted during certain times (Please read parking signs located on streets for details) or with a permit from Chelmsford Borough Council. Parking spaces are available on site for those with disability badges.
