Studying independently in the Learning Centres and Library

At Chelmsford College, the two Learning Centres provide ideal places in which to study or work in small groups where support and advice is always available.

Many learners visit us either before of after lessons to undertake research for assignments, access computers, find out about continuing your studies or even investigate possible future careers.

We provide

  • A suitable shared learning environment for independent study
  • Relevant learning resources for all Chelmsford College courses
  • Open access to numerous new computers
  • Knowledgeable and friendly staff
The Learning Centres are large open access areas available to all learners and staff from 8.45am everyday during term time. The services we offer are many and varied such as
  • Induction session to our resources and facilities
  • Helping with research for assignments
  • Access to online resources service
  • Support for users of all IT applications
  • DVD/video playback equipment
  • Guidance for UCAS applications
  • Supplying loans from other libraries
  • Selling stationery
  • Maintaining a suitable shared learning environment for study
  • And even lending the occasional textbook

Every enrolled learner and member of staff is eligible to borrow items for use in or outside College.

Remember that you must always show you College Card to loan resources.

Learning Technologies

Equipment and specialist support is available for both inside and outside all teaching areas. We have digital cameras to loan out, LCD Projectors and laptop for presentations and can record off-air educational programmes directly on to DVD. The Learning Technologies team are on hand to help you.

We are actively implementing Information and Learning Technology (ILT) systems and services to create blended learning benefits for all learners and staff at Chelmsford College. Teaching is enhanced through facilities such as interactive whiteboards and access to electronic software and DVD recordings while the provision of equipment such as digital cameras, flexicams, flatbed scanners and CD-RW drives can give a distinct boost to the learning experience.

The Copy Shop

We only use recycled or paper sourced from suppliers with a sustainable forestry programme.

This staffed area contains two high and one medium volume digital black and white photocopiers and a full colour copier. We also provide a good range of finishing options including lamination and binding. As well as from hardcopy, we can print from email attachments, floppy disks, CDs, memory sticks or flash cards, in colour or in black and white.

Learning Services are available to all enrolled learners and to all Chelmsford College staff.
